Summer. Cue the song from Frozen that Olaf sings about summer. Happy, hot, and free. Let’s paint a picture shall we?
Imagine. You’re at the pool. The glistening, cool water reflects the suns bright rays. Together they beckon you to come in. Armed with this season’s cutest swimsuit, your favorite sunglasses, and a sun hat to boot, you lay down your Kindle and answer the call. Off the lounge chair and into the water you go. Sweet refreshment.
After a half an hour or so of gliding around the pool on your flamingo floaty. Your friends tell you the burgers are ready. Laughter and feasting ensue. The noise of merriment grows as the sun goes down and the patio overhang lights turn on. Music comes on and dancing bursts out. Ah, these are the memories. The carefree times enjoyed by all during summer.
Now, when you live in Phoenix (like I do) summer has a bit of a different meaning. Cue the sound of eggs cooking on the sidewalk because it is so dang hot. I mean seriously, the desert, while having perfect weather for about 9 months out of the year, has 3 months of mind-numbing heat. Yesterday it was 118 degrees here. 118 Y’ALL! Do you know how hot that is?! The swimming pool doesn’t even cool you down because the water is warm.
Granted not every day is like this, most are around 105 (believe me this is cold compared to 118). On these days though, I like to blast up the AC, close the blinds (because any ounce of sunlight makes the house feel like an oven), make one of my favorite summery drinks, and diffuse my essential oils. Ah sweet summer.
Below are some of my favorite go-to summer recipes. Personally I use, and only use, Young Living’s essential oils. I love that they are high-quality, therapeutic grade and they smell ridiculously amazing. You can check them out here.
